Fire protection of steel structures: Fibrofeu®

Fibrofeu® is a fibrous spray-on mixture used for passive fire protection of steel structures. Fibrofeu® consists of slag wool, with hydraulic and inorganic binders. It is supplied in the form of light flocons. It is used for the fire resistance of steel structures.

Fibrofeu® is a spray-on product. The spraying technique, also known as flocking, consists in applying Fibrofeu® fibres under pressure using special machines.
The product is sprayed to a thickness defined by the desired fire resistance, the section factor and critical temperature of the steel structure.

The spraying machine generally comprises a feed hopper, a carding device, a blowing device (fan, turbine or blower), a hose for conveying the mixture to be sprayed. A spray gun and water.

The product is carded in a machine and then fed through a hose to a spray gun using compressed air. Water-fed nozzles are placed around the hose outlet to wet the product before it is sprayed onto the substrate.

Protection of steel beams and columns using Fibrofeu®

First, a bonding agent must be applied. Projiso Fixo M®  is used for steel structures. Projiso Fixo M® is an aqueous dispersion of a styrene butadiene copolymer.

Projiso Fixo M® is applied with a brush, roller or low-pressure sprayer on a clean, sound surface.

The coating will be finished with Projiso Fixo Dur® or Sidairless®

Projiso Fixo Dur® is a complex mixture of silicates and acrylic copolymers in the water phase. It acts by impregnation. Its novel formula combined with its particularly low viscosity
allows it to penetrate the fibrous coating to a depth of up to 15 mm. It is applied by spraying.

Sidairless® is an aqueous dispersion of vinyl copolymers with inert mineral fillers. It is a fine, ready-to-use coating, specially designed for the surfacing and mechanical reinforcement of fibrous coatings. It is applied using pumps for spray-applied coatings.
Colouring in pastel shades can be done directly on site. Concentrated universal colorants can also be used. The product can be churned in a mixing turbine.

Fire protection of steel structures using : Fireplaster®270

Fireplaster®270 is a spray-on slurry product used for the fire protection of steel structures.
The material is based on plaster, vermiculite and special additives.

Fireplaster®270 is a spray-on product. Spraying is done with a pump/mixer.
This slurry mixture is a mortar that is supplied in powder format. The product is sprayed on using a pump, first passing through a hose and a spray gun mixed with air.

The machine generally includes a feed hopper, a mixing chamber, a pump (important depending on the product to be sprayed), a hose to convey the spray mixture, and a spray gun that delivers the mixture.
