Fire protection of timber frames : Firespray®
Firespray® consists of slag wool, with hydraulic and inorganic binders. It is supplied in the form of light flakes.
Firespray ® is applied by spraying, a technique also known as flocking, which consists in pressurised spraying of Firespray® fibres onto a substrate using special machines.
The thickness of the sprayed layer will be defined according to the desired fire resistance rating.
The product is carded in the machine, which comprises a feed hopper, a carding device and a blowing device. The product is then fed to the spray gun via a hose by means of compressed air. Water-fed nozzles are placed around the hose outlet to wet the product before it is sprayed onto the substrate.
The fire protection of timber cannot be applied directly to the timber.
The assembly involves placing M48 spacers directly on the beams at right angles with a maximum spacing of 600 mm. Screw-fix an expanded metal and apply Firespray® to the desired fire protection rating.
Beam height must be greater than or equal to 120 mm
